Professor Fiona Geisinger
Fiona is a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and a Brown Belt in Judo, training for over 20 years combined with experience as both a competitor and coach. While studying Kinesiology at San Jose State University, Fiona started training Judo. Upon graduation, she was looking to continue learning the martial arts and was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and quickly fell in love with the technical nature of the art. Fiona has learned from some of the best instructors in California and has trained under Dave Camarillo and Raul Castillo. In 2022, Fiona and her family moved to Calgary where she joined JR Academy to continue her training with Josh Russell.
Coach Teo Russell
My name is Teo Russell, I'm 18 years old and received my blue belt at 16 years old. I grew up on the mats and have been actively training Jiu Jitsu for 14 years. I am always proud to say that Jiu Jitsu brought me into the world. My dad, Professor Josh, went to train Jiu Jitsu In Brazil with the Gracies and met my mother. I feel like growing up with Jiu Jitsu gave me mat maturity and respect towards the sport and my training partners. I learn so many lessons in a single roll. Just recently, I started helping teaching the children in our kids classes. My goal is to continue to grow as an instructor through many avenues, including coaching the kids classes, continuing to train and compete, and working on the business side of the gym.
